Van Meter Industrial and Leviton Manufacturing Company named recipients of the second annual Richard Buzun Award for Leadership and Innovation in eCommerce
Winners recognized at the IDEA E-Biz Forum 2008 in Washington, D.C.
Van Meter Industrial and Leviton Manufacturing Company were named the distributor and manufacturer recipients of the second annual Richard Buzun Award for Leadership and Innovation in eCommerce. Bob Gaylord, President, IDEA, announced the winners during the IDEA E-Biz Forum 2008 in Washington, D.C.
The award was introduced to the industry in 2007 to recognize a manufacturer and distributor company that take initiative to implement new eCommerce programs and promote eCommerce throughout the electrical industry. The award is named after the late Richard Buzun, the second IDEA Chairman, and former President and CEO of Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc.
“Richard Buzun was one of the early visionaries of eCommerce in the electrical industry and this award honors his legacy. Industry leaders who follow in his footsteps deserve to be recognized for their efforts to move the industry forward. Van Meter and Leviton make me extremely proud to call them our customers,” said Bob Gaylord, president, IDEA.
Joe Wallace, Data/Pricing Administration Manager, Van Meter Industrial, and Mark Richards, Director of eCommerce, Leviton Manufacturing Company, accepted the award on behalf of the their companies.
Gaylord recognized both companies for their on-going initiatives as well as recent accomplishments. Van Meter was praised for their active participation in eCommerce standards creation and their ability to successfully integrate those standards into daily business processes.
"We are incredibly honored to receive the Richard Buzun Award. This recognition is confirmation that our pursuit of innovation and excellence is alive and well. A special thanks to Joe Wallace and his team for their extraordinary efforts in this success,” said Barry Boyer, president, Van Meter Industrial.
Leviton Manufacturing Company was recognized for their flexible data exchange offerings that help make eCommerce an easy and efficient experience for their customers. They lead through standards creation and push to make eCommerce work effectively throughout the supply chain.
“In an increasing competitive environment, eCommerce provides a means for manufacturers and distributors to reduce supply chain costs while increasing the speed and accuracy of communication,” said Donald J. Hendler, president and CEO, Leviton Manufacturing.
Mark Richards, Director of eCommerce, added, “In this day and age, not incorporating eCommerce into your business model is like buying a car without considering fuel efficiency: a missed opportunity to keep money in your pocket. The fact that there is now recognition for eCommerce in the form of the Richard Buzun Award further emphasizes how seriously this industry views efficient business practices.”
The 2007 winners were Viking Electric Supply and OSRAM Sylvania.
